25 January 2025 – LNG containment technology company LNT A-BOX witnessed the successful 5-year Class dry-docking and renewal survey of the 45,000 cubm LNG Carrier “LNG JIA XING” (ex-“SAGA DAWN”) together with the Shipowner, Ship Management company and the vessels new classification company CCS.
“This is a key milestone for the LNT A-BOX containment system. The dry-docking will be completed within the original docking plan with ZERO issues with its containment system – proving LNT A-BOX as a robust, mature and problem free technology,” says Stein Foss, President & CEO, LNT A-BOX and LNT Marine.
LNT A-BOX is a robust and flexible system, based on IMO Tank Type A, featuring benefits on several important parameters, such as mitigation of sloshing, no tank filling restrictions and easy access to both primary- and secondary barriers.

“We took ownership of former “SAGA DAWN”, upon when we renamed the vessel to “LNG JIA XING”, in 2021, and have only positive experience with our ownership and operations related the LNT A-BOX cargo containment system since then,” says YueXian Wang, Vice President-Group, Integrated Maritime Management (Owner side).
“The LNT A-BOX system reminds us more about the operational friendly Moss type tanks. We welcome this technology to the market and regard it as the strongest and most robust containment system now available in the market, with higher Operating Pressure and possibility in receiving hot Cargo. We have no hesitation recommending LNT A-BOX to any LNG shipping company or operator. It is a proven technology that works,” says Hairulnizam Dali, General manager-LNG, Integrated Maritime Management (Technical Manager)
“We have carried out Ship-to-ship operations and the vessel has transported LNG on various filling levels in the tanks over these years, and experienced zero problems. From an operational viewpoint, LNT A-BOX appears to be the most robust and secure containment system available in the market today,” says Captain Hussain, Master of “LNG JIA XING”.
“We took over as new classification society for “LNG JIA XING” from November 21, 2024, and by the results of this special/renewal survey, we regard the LNT A-BOX cargo maintenance system is in normal condition, we are pleased to see LNT continuously optimize the patented technology, and we hope to continue to maintain cooperation in the future to promote the landing of more LNT A-BOX types ships.” says surveyor of China Classification Society (CCS)
Further to the “LNG JIA XING”, LNT A-BOX development has focused on the large ship segment and the development of 175,000 cubm LNG carrier design over the last years.

“SDARI have been in lead of designing LNT A-BOX 175,000 cubm LNG Carriers. This has included a thorough technical assessment in close collaboration with ABS and LNT A-BOX. Our conclusion is that the design is mature and ready for market – which now is further substantiated with the successful 5-year class dry-docking and renewal survey of the “LNG JIA XING”, says Lu Sheng, Chief Gas Carrier Specialist of SDARI.
